CEO of LANXESS in Brazil

A business administrator and lawyer, Marcelo Lacerda was born in São Paulo on May 12 1961. He graduated in Law from the Pontific Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC), has a Masters degree in Civil Law from the same institution and a post-graduate diploma in International Law and Business from the South Western Legal Foundation, in Texas, USA. Marcelo also has a degree in Business Administration from Mackenzie University and an MBA in Business Development.

Marcelo was made CEO of LANXESS in Brazil in July 2004, when the company was set up in the country following the spin off of Bayer’s chemical products and part of its polymer businesses.

In his current position Marcelo leads the support areas for the company’s business units in Brazil. He is in charge of setting out strategies, as well as implementing them with the development and integration of human and technological resources necessary to achieve the objectives established by the company’s headquarters.

Previously, Marcelo held leadership positions in the Brazilian branch of Bayer S/A. In the same company from 1998 to 2000 he led accounting, finance, and logistics projects in Germany.

Married with three children, Marcelo also holds three strategic positions in representative groups in trade and industry. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Abiquim, a member of the Higher Foreign Trade Council (COSCEX) at FIESP, a Councilor at the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Trade and Industry, a member of the Permanent Support Group for International Investors (GPAII), at FIESP, and a member of the American Chamber of Commerce.
