LANXESS presents three innovative product lines at China Adhesives and Sealants Expo

Shanghai, September 5, 2023 – The Urethane Systems (URE) business unit of specialty chemicals company LANXESS brings three innovative product lines at the 26th China Adhesives and Sealants Expo in Shanghai from September 4-6. These include low-free (LF) polyurethane prepolymers, as well as solvent-free and blocked technology.

On the morning of September 5, Jude Zhu, Technical Director of URE APAC, presented “LANXESS Urethane Systems’ Solutions for Adhesives” to customers and industry players in Hall W6.

“LANXESS is a world leader in polyurethane systems for elastomers, coatings, adhesives and sealants,” Zhenglei Zhang, head of URE for Asia-Pacific, said. “We provide our customers with decades of urethane chemistry know-how, comprehensive application expertise, and deep manufacturing experience.”

At the exhibition, LANXESS displays LF polyurethane prepolymers, one of its most distinctive product lines. It not only meets stringent standards for occupational safety and industrial hygiene and is easy to handle, but also provides excellent performance advantages.

A key property of polyurethane elastomers is microphase separation. With the use of LF technology, prepolymers can be precisely designed to achieve better microphase separation, for example pertaining to the ratio of soft and hard segments. As a result, LANXESS can design and customize final products to meet customer needs, improve tear and abrasion resistance, and mechanical properties of the final product to a certain extent, and help customers to produce elastomers with better performance.

Besides LF polyurethane prepolymers, LANXESS also offers solvent-free and blocked technology to meet the needs of adhesives and sealing applications in various industries.

Among solvent-free systems are Witcobond® aqueous polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) for adhesives and sealants; Royalbond® polyurethane bonding systems to reduce solvent usage in recycled foam; Trixene® SC polyurethane prepolymers, which have low viscosity and are liquid at room temperature; and Quasilan® polyurethane prepolymers for laminating adhesives, bonding agents, athletic tracks, playgrounds and industrial adhesives.

LANXESS also presents a wide range of blocked technology, including Adiprene BL-blocked TDI prepolymers (MEKO-blocked) for abrasive materials and tools; Trixene BI-blocked TDI prepolymer, cardanol as blocking agent; one-component binder which can be designed to be thermally unblocked, Trixene BI-blocked isocyanate cross-linking agent; and tougheners for epoxy resins, such as epoxy structural adhesives and epoxy tile adhesives. Relevant blocked products are widely used in electronic products, automobiles, power batteries and other fields.
