Volunteer Day 2011

LANXESS holds Volunteer Day in four regions of Brazil

On Saturday, October 22, LANXESS, a multinational leader in specialty chemicals, held the first edition of LANXESS Volunteer Day. The social initiative involved more than 100 employees from the company’s offices and plants in Brazil (São Paulo-SP, Porto Feliz-SP, Recife–PE, Cabo de Santo Agostinho-PE, Duque de Caxias-RJ, São Leopoldo-RS and Triunfo– RS).

The aim of the initiative was to promote integration between the employees and the local community, helping institutions such as crèches, senior citizens homes, schools and rehabilitation centers for addicts. The volunteers spent Saturday carrying out refurbishments, gardening and getting involved in recreational activities. The initiative benefitted about 500 people throughout Brazil.

“The first edition of Volunteer Day shows LANXESS’ commitment to the communities the company operates in. We believe that engaging our employees in practices like this contributes to our having a more solid and socially responsible workforce. LANXESS will continue this project, which will take place annually,” explains Marcelo Lacerda, CEO of LANXESS in Brazil.

LANXESS was supported by its partnership with suppliers, including: Motrix Transportes e Serviços and Top Service, in Triunfo; Grupo Treze Paulista, Turismo, Três Amigos, VLX Projetos e Soluções Ambientais, RM Engenharia, VW Engenharia, Katoen Natie and GRSA, in Duque de Caxias; Vera Cruz Viagens and Grupo Verzani & Sandrini, in Cabo de Santo Agostinho; and Polar Transportes Rodoviários and DT Paisagismo, in Porto Feliz.
