LANXESS promotes Volunteer Program with the support and engagement of 230 employees from the company

Around 350 children and youngsters participated in the initiative in Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul and in São Paulo

Continuing its commitment with corporate and social responsibility actions, LANXESS, a leading company in specialty chemicals, promoted the LANXESS Volunteer Program in 4 Brazilian States where the company operates. The activities gathered around 350 children and youngsters, and had the engagement of 230 LANXESS employees. There were organized recreation, arts actions aimed at the environment and repairs to the infrastructure of the institutions selected for the Program.

In São Paulo, the chosen institution was Associação Monte Carmelo, located in the city of Porto Feliz, which responds for 180 children aged 6 to 14, promoting socio-educational activities. In Rio de Janeiro, the day care center CCAIC Campos Elíseos, in Duque de Caxias received LANXESS volunteers. The institution responds for 56 children at risk of undernourishment, aged 1 to 5. The children stay at the unit from 8 am to 5pm and they receive elementary instruction, food and medical care.

In Pernambuco, the efforts were aimed at the NGO Projeto Samuel, which responds for children and adolescents, aged 3 to 18, under a situation of social vulnerability and promotes social-educational activities. Closing the LANXESS volunteering actions, the Associação Beneficente Nossa Senhora Auxiliadora in São Leopoldo, RS, which promotes the development of 105 children and adolescents, aged 05 to 15, received the volunteers from the company.

The company's employees were involved in different tasks, not only to ensure the recreation and arts activities with children and youngsters, but also the improvement of the building infrastructure, the bathrooms and, in some cases, the building of new facilities, such as greenhouse and maintenance of a kitchen garden.

For Marcelo Lacerda, LANXESS's CEO in Brazil, the initiative is essential to promote the spreading of corporate responsibility practices. “Actions such as the Volunteer Day significantly improve the sense of community and active participation in the development, not only of our company, but, above all, of our community and our country”. Lacerda points out.
